The Propoganda behind the Fascade in the Movie, Casablanca

The films of the World War II era were much more than just stories about life or love; each unique film showed a different portrayal of the war effort. Although the films showed aspects of the war such as American involvement and cultural aspects, it was not always obvious to see the propaganda behind the faà §ade. Casablanca, directed by Michael Curtiz, is a wartime film that promotes American involvement and contains subtle propaganda. Throughout Casablanca, there is a definite sense of patriotism and nationalism from the American side. Although the marketing team focused on the action, romance, and movie stars, the underlying political themes of Casablanca are eminent; the film’s intention was to get people to support the war. Rick, played by Humphrey Bogart, is the representative of the Americans in the film. He is, after all, called a patriot by Captain Renault after the murder of Mayor Stasser. In the film, America is shown as a safe place for refugees; this further pro motes American involvement in the war, because Americans should want to keep fighting for their land to stay safe. Casablanca, as well as promoting American involvement and patriotism, was used as subtle propaganda for the American people. As previously stated, the absence of focus on the war let the characters and story take center-stage. Reflection On Reading Doctrine Three - 1215 Words

Part 1: When reading doctrine three, I came to the conclusion that it talks about having the ability to look â€Å"outside of the box† and at times to listen to someone else’s reasoning. From reading Benjamin Franklin, I felt that he talks about this in the beginning when addressing the President about the Constitution and his approval. â€Å"I am not sure I shall never approve it; for, having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged, by better information or fuller consideration, to change my opinions even on important subjects, which I once thought right, but found to be otherwise. It is therefore that, the older I grow, the more apt I am to doubt my own judgment of others.† (Franklin 128) From this passage it shows that from being older and knowing that others could be right, gives him the ability to think correctly and express his stance on the matter in a professional manner. Towards the end of Franklin’s writings he agrees to the idea o f the Constitution for reasons that the colonies need laws, but knows that there are reasons of faults from the human factor. (Franklin, np) When reading doctrine five, I felt that Thomas Jefferson philosophies was in concurrence with the doctrine. Thomas Jefferson writes that all men are created equal by Laws of Nature and that everyone has rights to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. I allow his tongue to caress mine, letting him suck the rain from my bottom lip and savor the taste of me. The systems view of the project mean is to take and external and internal look at the functioning environment of the company.
